[SLI-public] Two questions

A bunch of Suffolk libraries also received the Tesla email. We installed two EV chargers during construction, and Tesla's can use their adaptor to charge - so we probably won't look into it right now.
Joanna, we also installed a 78KW solar panel array on our roof during construction, using capital funding and a NYS Construction Aid grant. The roof of the building was replaced in 2014-15, so it could support the panels. We did a ballast system in terms of holding them down on the flat roof - and had an architect (BBS in Patchogue/Albany) work with us for the engineering aspect and submittals to state. Our experience overall was quite positive, and the community supported it because it would lower our energy costs. We did have to do some additional electrical work to put in a separate panel for the solar array, along with some gas line work on the roof as well.

Hi Joanna,
We're about to embark on our rooftop solar project after several years of planning here at the Mid-Hudson Library System. We timed it to coincide with the replacement of our roof to ensure that any structural issues could be addressed but it turned out there were none and we're proceeding without doing much more than a normal shingle upgrade for the roof before installing the solar. I'm not sure it's a "modest" project given that is likely relative but it will result in 75% of the electricity we need no longer coming from fossil fuels.
Coincidentally? I received an outreach message from someone at the Tesla program just this week... we already did EV Charging stations last year so I'm not super motivated but it is something that got my interest given this news: https://www.theverge.com/23758095/electric-vehicle-charging-news-nacs-ccs-tesla-supercharger-us-infrastructure
Be well,
Rebekkah

Subject: [SLI-public] Two questions
Good morning,
I have 2 questions:
The first is on behalf of another library. They would like to know if anyone has undertaken a modest solar project. If so, what was your experience/ what did you decide to do? The staff also let me know that their town looked into a solar panels, but the town infrastructure is too old and couldn't support a large project.
Question 2: Is anyone familiar with the Tesla Wall Connector Donation Program?
Thank you in advance for your help and insight,
