[SLI-public] help with two parts of the SLCP

Hi Matthew,
Hope all is well. Our board is scheduled to approve the attached Sustainability Policy and the resolution below regarding diversity. The Policy had been originally titled Environmental Policy and created when the library was working on the environmental portion of our certification. We realized we could revise it to include the custom benchmark concepts. Please adapt to your purposes as you like.


DRAFT RESOLUTION:



The Haverstraw Public Library is committed to recognizing the humanity of all people and to providing equitable access for all. We strive to reflect the community we serve by representing and fostering the various cultures, genders and ethnicities among our staff and Board of Trustees. Therefore, be it resolved that the Library affirms its commitment to the American Library Association Diversity Policy, in particular Section B.3.7 Recruitment & Retention of Diverse Personnel, which states: “In order to ensure that libraries are both reflective of and relevant to the communities they serve, the American Library Association encourages and supports recruitment and continuing education initiatives that facilitate the hiring and promotion of a diverse workforce in libraries of all types and at all organizational levels.”

I am looking for policy, plans or how you completed these two parts of the SLCP:

1) Create a plan and/or policy to recruit a diverse Board of Trustees that reflect the community served and supports diversity.

2) Demonstrate, through a mission statement, policy, board resolution or long-range plan, commitment to addressing community resiliency.
