SCBWI ILF's Giving Tuesday Campaign
This Giving Tuesday, Support School Libraries!
Giving Tuesday is coming up on December 2nd, and this year the SCBWI Impact
and Legacy Fund will once again devote our efforts to supporting
underfunded school libraries across the United States.
It’s no secret that for the vast majority of children, their most important
and consistent exposure to books is in their school libraries. But
unfortunately these school libraries are suffering from serious cuts to the
funding that keep their shelves full of the fresh, vibrant books that kids
want and need. This year, we’re highlighting five outstanding school
libraries whose stories of both need and care for their students deeply
moved us. We hope that you’re moved too.
So, throughout the month of November, and on Giving Tuesday (December 2nd),
all donations to the SCBWI Impact and Legacy Fund will go to our school
library support program, All Readers Welcome.

Already, with your generous past contributions we’ve sent thousands of
books to school libraries serving over 37,000 kids. This year, we’re
focusing on:
- Holly Ridge/Holly Hills Elementary in Denver, Colorado serving 587
students who collectively speak 17 languages
- St. Ignatius School District (a K-12 school) in St. Ignatius, Montana,
located on the Flathead Indian Reservation and serving 540 students
- Dale Junior High in Anaheim, California, serving 907 eager readers
through their Dale Readers club with a budget of zero dollars
- The Young Women’s Leadership School of Manhattan, a public school in
New York serving 500 6th through 12th grade students
- Woodbridge High School in Greenwood, Delaware, serving 720 students,
all of whom are eligible for free lunch, and 25% of whom are experiencing
homelessness.
