Hi Ellen:
I can give you some info on the civil service exam for Suffolk County.
The Librarian II exam was administered about 1 month ago and is only offered every 3 to 4 years usually.
The Librarian I exam is a pencil and paper exam
Exams for upper level Librarian III, Ast Director, Director are all T& E exams (training and experience exam) and are also usually offered every 3 or 4 years
I actually printed out the questions that are asked on the T & E exams if you want them
Perhaps you can forward this reply to Jefferson as well
Please email me off the list serve at Brustbrenda at yahoo.com for additional info glad to assist
Thank |You
Brenda

Hi Jefferson,
I'm also interested in taking the civil service exam for Suffolk County. I haven't found anything online about content. If you find out I'd love to be in the loop! I guess it doesn't help that the county website is down due to their choice not to pay out on ransomware.
Hope you get some good info, and have success with your job search!

Hi,
So the exam is considered a “regular” civil service exam and not an experience-based exam? Does that mean that all I need to do is use Exam-prep books that have nothing to do with librarianship?
Best regards,
Jefferson

Hello fellow librarians,
I am a new resident of Long Island. I was informed that civil service exam is a requirement to work as a librarian. What questions are on civil service exam in Suffolk County? How to prepare for it?
Any information will be appreciated.
Best regards,
