Libby Updates

Updated Lending and Hold Limits for Libby:
Starting January 1, 2026, Livebrary will reduce the checkout and hold limits for Libby. The limits will change from 7 checkouts to 6 and from 5 holds to 4. This change aims to decrease hold wait times. Additionally, the number of tags needed to consider purchasing "Notify Me" will increase. If a patron approaches you with an item request that you feel could benefit the collection, please open a Helpdesk ticket.

Staff Toolkit Flyer:
A one-sheet toolkit flyer has been created to inform your staff about these changes and the recommended Libby etiquette for patrons. Please distribute it to improve your staff's understanding and help them assist patrons successfully during this transition.

Libby Etiquette for Patrons Insert:
To inform patrons about basic Libby etiquette and reinforce staff awareness of it, which will help reduce hold times and benefit all Libby users, Livebrary has created an insert for the trifold "The Cost of Ebooks and Audiobooks and Why it Matters" that will be sent to your library. Refills will be available through the gateway or can be self-printed at your library.

GROUND News:
As of January 2026, Livebrary will be adding to its offerings GROUND News. GROUND News is an innovative platform that empowers readers to compare news coverage, spot media bias, and think critically about current events in real time. It will be available through the Libby App & Libbyapp.com in the extras section, and Livebrary.com. Please see attached for basic information.
