Hazel-

Thanks for this awesome resource. B Corps rock!

The before internet version of this website is a little book I picked up in early 1990. https://www.worldofbooks.com/products/shopping-for-a-better-world-book-rosalyn-will-9780345364647/?id_product_attribute=68907243 . I guess I've been shopping for a better world for 35 years - wow!

Howdy SLI members,

I wanted to let you know about this neat resource and lovely speaker Mary, who we've worked with a number of times at our library. She works a lot with the interfaith community and has a list of consumption resources on her website that many of you may find useful. It is not a fancy website...but it is functional!

My apologies for any typos; I'm replying on my phone with mischievous fingertips.

Subject: Economic Boycott Feb 28; Your Conscious Buying Voice

In an ongoing effort to encourage being a conscious consumer, I'm writing to alert you to a national movement, and to raise up a couple of ways you can use your consumer voice every day going forward:

Economic boycott Friday Feb 28 - and others through March and April: John Schwarz of The Peoples Union has sparked a movement through social media which is getting a lot of attention - see HERE<https://www.cbsnews.com/news/economic-blackout-feb-24-hour-february-28-2025-peoples-union/> for example. It is calling for an economic boycott Friday Feb 28 - asking Americans to not buy anything on that day except for necessities from small local businesses - and will be followed by other boycotts through March and April. People are emphasizing different aspects of this to show the power of consumers.

AND

Support national groups organizing consumer campaigns to improve corporate behavior: Green America does this really well - learn more HERE<https://greenamerica.org/about-us> and take action HERE<https://greenamerica.org/take-action-current-campaigns>.

Always think about buying less, buying local and buying consciously - for example:

  * B corps recommended by your neighbors HERE<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WeYJELoAUO-jPc-kVppGc-8FTkGraTrFRc5ChxrC33c/edit?gid=1423593817#gid=1423593817>. This list includes Thrive Market, which is a subscription service that some find offers a good alternative to Amazon for ordering household goods and food.

  * Other alternatives to Amazon and large corporations, like websites Earth Hero<https://earthhero.com/> and Done Good<https://donegood.co/>

If there are other groups, B corps or buying tips you like, reply and I'll share them with others!
Towards an economy that works for all!
