[SCLA] Empire State Libraries Annual Golf Outing - Golf, pickleball, or just dinner. September 28 at The Vineyard

Good morning everyone,

I hope you had a good long weekend. The first morning back after Labor Day
is rarely anyone's favorite, so I am glad to start it with something worth
looking forward to. The Empire State Libraries Fundraiser, featuring the
Golf Outing, Pickleball Tournament, and Banquet Dinner, takes place three
weeks from yesterday on Monday, September 28, at The Vineyard Golf &
Country Club in Riverhead.

Registration has been open and spots are going quickly. The new pickleball
tournament has limited space in particular, so if you have been meaning to
sign up, this is the week to do it.

*What the day looks like:*

11:30 am to 1:00 pm, registration and lunch for golfers
1:00 pm, golfers tee off
1:30 pm, pickleball players arrive
2:00 pm, pickleball tournament begins
5:00 to 6:00 pm, cocktail hour
6:00 pm, banquet dinner reception

*Pick your level of athletic commitment ;)*

Golf, lunch, and banquet dinner, $250 per person. Bring your clubs and your
favorite excuse.

Pickleball, $150 per person, which covers five games, snacks, drinks, and
the banquet dinner. New this year, round robin, mixed doubles, all levels
welcome. That last part is sincere. Nobody is scouting you.

Banquet dinner only, $125 per person.

Banquet dinner only for SCLA and other association members, retired
members, and first-time attendees, $100 per person. If your relationship
with organized sports ended in high school, this is your ticket. Show up at
5:00 for the cocktail hour, stay for dinner, and let other people do the
sweating.

Also new this year: raffle baskets, and several new sponsorship
opportunities.

*Sponsorships, or, a nice thing to ask your vendors about:*

Levels run from a $150 tee-sign up to the $3,000 Nobel Prize Sponsor, with
stops at $350, $550, $1,000, $1,400, and $1,800 along the way. Several
include golf, lunch, banquet seats, and signage. Your vendors and business
partners already want to be visible to a room full of library decision
makers. Please make the introduction.

*What it is all for:*

Proceeds support New Yorkers for Better Libraries, the NYLA Intellectual
Freedom Roundtable, the Sustainable Libraries Initiative, and Suffolk
County PLDA. A day outside plus real advocacy money for New York's
libraries is a hard combination to argue with.

*Two housekeeping notes:*

If you pay online through Zeffy, keep an eye on the summary page. Where it
offers to "help keep Zeffy free," open the dropdown and choose "Other." The
platform is well meaning but it would like a tip, and this is how you
politely decline.

If you would rather write a check, make it payable to Suffolk County PLDA
and mail it with your registration to Joanne Albano, Commack Public
Library, 18 Hauppauge Rd., Commack, NY 11725.

The brochure is attached with the full sponsor list and a registration
form. Please pass it along to vendors, business partners, board members,
and anyone else who owes you a favor.
