*Part-Time Teen Librarian*


*The Port Jefferson Free Library is seeking a Librarian in our Library’s
Teen Center.*

*The right candidate will:*

*• **possess a strong interest and knowledge of teen culture*

*• **be comfortable engaging with teens*

*• **commit to support the ALA’s Bill of Rights, Intellectual Freedom, and
Patron Privacy*

*• **contribute to the operation of the PJFL’s Teen Center as a safe space*

*• **possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate a positive
attitude*

*• **work well as a team member in a constantly evolving environment*

*• **be available for evening and weekend shifts*


*Job duties:*

*• **develop, promote, and run a variety of programs for teens*

*• **provide readers’ advisory for teen patrons and assist with teen
collection development,*

*book displays and lists, and seasonal displays*

*• **assist with program registration, reference services, and content
creation*

*• **teach and operate technologies utilized in the Teen Center including
but not limited to the*

*use of gaming consoles and games, computer software, Cricut machines, and
3D printers*

*• **represent the library at events in the community and engage in library
promotion*

*• **use of Sierra, Library Market, Google Workspace, Canva and Reference
databases*


*Qualifications:*

*Has completed an MLS from an ALA-accredited Institution and holds a valid
NYS Public Librarian **Certificate OR actively enrolled in an accredited
MLS program at an ALA-accredited Institution.*


*Approximately 19 hours a week. Salary: $38.43 per hour. Submit resume and
