Children’s Department Part-Time Librarian I/Librarian Trainee
The South Country Library, located in Bellport Village, is looking for a
children’s librarian or children’s librarian trainee to work with our
cooperative, creative, community-oriented Children’s Department. We need
someone who is enthusiastic about children’s literature and programming.
The position is 12 hours per week plus one Saturday per month.
Job Responsibilities:
● Responsibilities include active reference service to a diverse community.
● Creating and implementing programs for children and caregivers.
● Candidate will be working directly with children birth through 5th grade.
Requirements:
● Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school,
or be enrolled.
● 12 hours per week ; Monday and Friday evenings, and Wednesday morning,
plus one Saturday per month. Sundays are optional (pay is double time).
● Excellent customer service skills.
● Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Compensation:
● Librarian I: $29.68 per hour/Librarian Trainee: $25.83 per hour.
● Paid sick and vacation time.
