[SCLA] SCLA Advocacy Update | East End Beacon - A Call To Support Local Libraries: SCLA's Letter to the Editor

Colleagues and Friends,

The Suffolk County Library Association has issued nearly a dozen
statements, updates, and letters to our membership, and our state and
federal representatives. The aim was to inform the reader of the potential
implications of funding cuts and the impact it can have on towns, villages,
and hamlets throughout Long Island and the rest of NYS.  Each letter urged
politicians to defend us, our industry, and the communities we serve. Each
statement urged our members and their support networks to write to our
representatives and echo the sentiment that libraries are not luxuries --
they are lifelines. We thank all you for the support, encouragement, and
enthusiasm that you have shown us as we continue to fulfill our obligation
to support, educate and advocate for our members, their libraries, and our
communities.

While we still ask that you, your friends, family, and colleagues contact
your NYS representative and demand they increase state funding for libraries

we are reaching out to share that, because of the overwhelming support and
member feedback, SCLA has decided to widen its advocacy efforts writing a
Letter to the Editor of various local publications. We are happy to report
