Please join us IN-PERSON at SCLS on Wednesday, April 16th  from 10:00am to Noon.

Outreach Services has invited representatives from several organizations that provide programs and services to people living with memory loss, Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. Resources for families and caregivers will also be discussed. Please join us to share any resources that your library may be providing to people living with memory loss.
All library staff is welcome and encouraged to participate, as living with memory loss challenges impacts everyone in the family, including children and grandchildren.

Please join us to learn about the many programs and services for people living with memory loss, Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. Representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association, Day Haven Adult Services, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Parker Jewish Institute and Stony Brook Medicine Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease will participate in a roundtable discussion about the resources available for individuals, their families and caregivers. All library staff are welcome to participate. We would love to hear about the resources you are offering to patrons and families facing these challenges.

Title II of the ADA and Website Accessibility

In April 2024, the Department of Justice published a rule updating its regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The rule sets technical requirements for state and local governments and their entities, including libraries, to follow to make sure that their websites, mobile apps, and social media are accessible to people with disabilities. This training will provide an overview of these new requirements, and their effective date, address how people with disabilities interact with the virtual environment, and offer starting tips on how to meet the regulation requirements on websites, social media, and other forms of electronic communication.
