Library:*

The East Hampton Library is seeking a full-time Young Adult librarian to
work in our Young Adult department. This is an opportunity to have a
positive impact on teens’ lives, foster lifelong learning, and help teens
access a wide range of resources, including homework help, college prep,
community service, and to provide a space to call their own. Candidates
must have experience and enthusiasm connecting with high school students
and be in touch with current popular culture and trends.
Responsibilities include:
*Acts as an advocate for young adults and their educational and social
needs within the library and engages in work with schools, and other local
community agencies that work with high school students
* Providing reference and readers’ advisory services
* Promoting library collections and services
* Planning, publicizing, and conducting programs for high school students
* Assisting teens with the use of print and electronic resources
* Assisting in maintaining a pleasant, inviting, safe and inclusive
environment
* Performing outreach to other community organizations to inform them of
library services and to develop partnerships for collaboration
* Cultivating and maintaining contact with schools and parents
* Creating opportunities for young adults to contribute to the library in
venues such as the Teen Advisory Board, social media postings, podcasts,
book reviews, etc.
* May perform one or more of the following duties: investigate technologies
that will improve services; develop, maintain, or contribute to the YA
Instagram and other social media; supervise volunteers; compile
bibliographies and/or develop library user guides
* Performing other duties as assigned or required
Requirements:
Candidate must have a MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited library
school.
Salary: $62,300 a year and a competitive benefits package
The schedule includes some evenings and weekend rotation
