Below you will find a message from Lilly Kiel. In addition to being Members
at Large of CATS, She and Steven Alcalde are the co-presiders of the newly
formed East End Tech Coalition (EETC), a committee of CATS. Here is the
mission of this newly formed committee:
The East End Tech Coalition (EETC) strives to link all IT, Digital
Services, and other Technology-Related Library Personnel working in
libraries on the East End of Long Island. EETC’s focus is to highlight the
unique hurdles and opportunities that East End libraries face when looking
to provide innovative technology services and programs, and to collaborate
with one another to find solutions to these obstacles. EETC welcomes all
who are interested in learning about the possibilities and challenges that
occur with providing quality technology related library services on the
East End of Long Island. This coalition will operate as a subdivision of
the Computer and Technical Services Division (CATS) of The Suffolk County
Library Association (SCLA) to spread awareness of these hurdles and
possibilities; all the while utilizing CATS’ resources to plan programming
and events, find solutions, and generate new ideas for the tech staff on
the East End.
Though formed with East End Libraries in mind, the EETC is a resource
designed to aid in technology realted initiatives for East End libraries,
association libraries, and smaller library districts. Anyone who is
interested is welcome to join and attend meetings! We look forward to
seeing you at the EETC meeting!
