Dear Library Colleagues,

REMINDER!! Below is information about two upcoming mental health related
programs being offered this week (6/12 & 6/13). All library administration
and staff are welcome to participate. Please share with your library
colleagues. These programs wil be valuable when providing resources to
library staff and patrons. These programs are NOT open to the public.

Monday, June 12th 1:30 to 2:00pm. (VIRTUAL) Mental Health Monday Lunch &
Learn : Please join Jasmine Lucas, Coordinator of Mental Health Education
and Training for the Association for Mental Health and Wellness, for a L&L
on the topic of Mental Health and the Family - how does mental health effect
and impact the whole family? How to talk with family members about mental
health, how to cope with a loved one who is dealing with a mental health
challenge. The link to the L&L is on the SCLS calendar. The L&L will NOT be
recorded.

Tuesday, June 13th 10:00am to Noon (IN-PERSON AT SCLS) Mental Health
Resources Roundtable : As a follow-up to the May 16th Mental Health
Resources Mini Fair, we will work with mental health organizations in
Suffolk County, to develop resources and programming for library patrons
and staff. This is the first meeting of the Mental Health Resources
Roundtable. We need all library departments to be part of this effort, as
mental health challenges are experienced by and impact people of all ages,
in every community. Going forward I plan to hold this meeting three times a
year, seeking feedback from all library staff, including librarians,
clerical, custodial and security staff, as everyone in the library will
encounter a situation and have valuable feedback to share. If you plan to
join us at SCLS, please register on the Gateway.
