Here’s why:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>After September 30th, the web certificate provider Let's Encrypt stopped supporting certain older operating systems and browsers. This shift was not exclusive to OverDrive: Let's Encrypt certificates are used to create secure connections on many websites and apps, so many other services were affected. (You can read more about the technical reasons behind the change <a href="https://letsencrypt.org/docs/certificate-compatibility/" target="_blank">here</a>.) While it has increased security, one unfortunate result of this change is that Libby is no longer compatible devices that use iOS 9. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Overdrive recommends that users who encounter certificate errors update their operating system or browser version if possible. All iOS devices that were released after 2012 can update to iOS 10 or newer, which is compatible with Let’s Encrypt. Apple has instructions on how to update different devices available <a href="https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204" target="_blank">here</a>. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Please place a ticket in the Help Desk (help@suffolknet.org) if you have further questions.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>--Ellen<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Ellen Nasto<br></b>Technology & Electronic Resources Supervisor<br>Suffolk Cooperative Library System<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>627 North Sunrise Service Road<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Bellport, New York 11713-9000<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Tel: (631) 286-1600, x1357 <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Email: <a href="mailto:ellen@suffolknet.org"><span style='color:#0563C1'>ellen@suffolknet.org</span></a> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div></body></html>
