[eresources] Important Update regarding Libby and the Overdrive App

Dear Colleagues,

 

Earlier this month, Overdrive shared their plan and timeline for sunsetting
the legacy Overdrive app in favor of utilizing Libby as the primary app for
accessing our Overdrive collection.

 

As a first step in the process, Overdrive will remove the Overdrive app from
the Apple Store, Google Play, and the Microsoft store in February 2022.
Current Overdrive app users can continue to use the app at that time; any
new users looking for the Overdrive app will be directed to Libby.  Our
website, https://livebrary.overdrive.com, will also continue to be a primary
means of access.

 

In future phases of their plan, Overdrive will be actively encouraging
Overdrive app users to switch to Libby, with the goal of migrating most
Overdrive app users to Libby by the end of 2022.  We will share out updates
on future phases of the transition as we receive them.  

 

As we prepare for this change, Overdrive has suggested that we begin
actively promoting Libby and remove references to the Overdrive app from our
websites and any promotional materials that are shared out with patrons.  To
assist you with this process, we have the following available:
